Steve handed out various samples of Belgian beers that they import and talked about the beers and breweries.

Samples:

  • Wittekerke (in steel can): Voted #1 Wit bier by Belgian consumers 2 years in a row. Light color and flavor, from the Bavik brewery.
  • Petrus Aged Pale: ale aged in oak casks for 20 - 30 months. Sour/tart. Also from the Bavik brewery.
  • Popering's Hommel: From a recipe originally brewed in 1629. 7.5% abv. Tasty.
  • Bieken: Beer brewed with honey, from a small 'local' (to Belgium) brewery.
  • Augustijn: Fine Abbey ale from Breweij Van Steenberge
  • Piraat: Very tasty, hoppy strong ale (10.5% abv).
  • Gulden Draak: Dark Tripel, also very tasty.
