Reviewed calendar as discussed at Steering Committee meeting.
It was suggested that ‘someone’ start style topic discussions for our style competitions over e-mail months before the competition, in order to give people a chance to understand the styles better before brewing them. (It was suggested that this might be best done on the new forum.)
Jim Bowser offered to do a Beer and Chocolate presentation to fill any holes in our calendar for meeting topics. February was chosen (chocolate and Valentine’s day go together).
Jeff McNally brought up mead as a possible topic to squeeze in as well, since we haven’t had such a meeting in 2-3 years and it is always well-received. We didn’t set a date or make any solid decisions on this though.
Pub crawl is Nov. 21st, let Jeff Fuller know if you are interested, we need to get more people on the bus to keep the cost down per-person. It was also discussed to have part of the expense paid from the treasury.
Blue Hills Brewing is inviting us as a club to an Oktoberfest in Canton. Not sure their intent or what they would have us there for. Date is October 11th.
September 19th is an Oktoberfest at Memorial Hall. Jim Bowser needs volunteers to help with the afternoon and/or evening sessions. Let Jim know if you would like to work it (get to take some beer home).
Redlefsen’s is doing Oktoberfest (every Friday??)
We have a new SSBC Forum for members only. It is accessible from the SSBC web site. Go to the forum and sign up. You need to be approved before you’ll be allowed to get in. There are several different topics that you can start new threads in or respond to ongoing threads. We hope to use this to reduce some of the unnecessary e-mail chatter, while still using e-mail as the primary communication tool. Directions to member’s houses were moved to the forum for security reasons (since it is members only in the forum).
The club calendar is changing and being moved to the forum, but will still be accessible to non-members.
Pay your 2009 dues. $25. Cough it up, cheapskate. It’s a bargain, even in a recession. (OK, that was editorial)
